THE ALGORITHM OF ATTRACTION: OUR BI-ANNUAL DATING APP REPORT

While you were spending the weekend nursing your hangovers and casually sipping beers, we were busy running our bi-annual market research. Twice a year, we dive into the data to track prices, behavioral dynamics, and new trends in the local dating app ecosystem.

How does it work? We register several automated profiles—both male and female—on the most popular dating apps. Our scripts blindly swipe right and send standardized auto-messages to see exactly how the market reacts.

The results are in, and the reality of the digital meat market is as predictable as ever. Here is what we found.

The Pricing & The Negotiation

Prices over the last six months have remained completely stagnant. No inflation here. Bangkok remains traditionally slightly higher, while Pattaya and Chonburi sit a bit lower.

The most interesting dynamic- The initial quote means nothing. A girl might throw out a completely random, astronomically high number at first, but if you firmly state your budget and boundaries, they almost instantly agree. It’s a classic high-ball tactic.

The Ghost Town of Familiar Faces

If you feel like you are swiping through the exact same women you saw half a year ago, you aren’t crazy.

In both Bangkok and Pattaya, 80% of the female profiles are exactly the same as they were six months ago. The “new” faces you do see aren’t actually new; it’s mostly just internal labor migration (girls moving from Pattaya to BKK or vice versa).

The male profiles, however, are the exact opposite. It is a revolving door of fresh meat. Almost all male users are new, with very few veteran profiles surviving the six-month gap.

The Scripts Haven’t Changed

The marketing funnels are still relying on the exact same psychological triggers. Over half of the accounts we interacted with use one of these three approaches:

The Urgency Trap: “My room rent is due today, I need to meet someone right now.”

The Scarcity Illusion: “I am only in town for two more days.”

The Pivot: “I am strictly looking for a serious relationship… but okay, sometimes, very rarely, I work as a freelancer.”

The “Serious Relationship” Conversion Rate

Our algorithm sends the exact same message to everyone, regardless of whether a girl’s bio says she is looking for a husband, looking for friends, or explicitly looking for work.

The result – In Pattaya, over 90% of all conversations eventually ended with a price tag being named. In Bangkok, that percentage is significantly lower—about 1.5 times less.

Logistics and Surviving Scams

Hosting: Only a bleak 4% of all female accounts actually have a place to host (incall). The other 96% are strictly outcall.

The Taxi Scam is Alive: The classic trick hasn’t died. “Okay, I’m on my way, just transfer 200 Baht for my Bolt.” The second you send the 200 Baht, you are instantly blocked.

The Micro-OnlyFans: About a year ago, a manual leaked on Thai forums explaining how to monetize dating apps without ever meeting anyone. Girls set up provocative profiles and simply sell “secret” photos or short videos for 30 to 300 Baht. It likely doesn’t work on seasoned expats, but the local guys are definitely buying.

The Female Bot Experience (A Message to the Men)

We also ran female bot accounts to see what the other side of the screen looks like. Honestly? It is absolute madness.

The vast majority of male users have less than zero communication skills. The sheer volume of unsolicited photos of male “lower body parts” our servers collected is genuinely staggering. Out of hundreds of matches, only a tiny fraction of men could put together a coherent sentence or offer a real, tangible proposition.

The digital market is loud, repetitive, and completely unfiltered. Swipe carefully.
