I don’t know how other content creators build relationships with their audience, but I actually know my followers by sight. And honestly, it is incredibly nice to see the exact same avatars in the comments day after day. But here is the fascinating part: we run pages across several platforms, and on each one, the subscribers have entirely different manners, reactions, and a completely unique vibe. We are on Facebook, Instagram, X, and—God forgive me—TikTok. They are four completely different worlds.
You all know that we are pretty good at writing text, but terrible at making videos. That is exactly why we let loose on Facebook—our long, heavy storytelling fits perfectly there. In fact, whenever I sit down to write a new piece, I already have specific people in mind. What is that bald Scandinavian guy going to say this time? How will the guy from the Czech Republic react? What about that one dude who completely ignores the narrative but obsessively analyzes some tiny background detail in the visual? Will the guy who types “bullshit” under literally every single post show up today? On FB, we have built an active, reading audience that actually seems to understand what we are talking about.
Instagram is a completely different story. I accidentally opened the message requests the other day, and saw the “999+ unread” badge. I have no idea how their algorithm works, but our DMs are an absolute surreal nightmare. It is an endless feed of messages like: “I am looking for a girl exactly like you…”, “Believe me, I am not like other farangs…”, “Just give me your phone number, I will take care of you.” And the absolute cherry on top: around 300 missed audio and video calls from complete strangers.
When we launched on X (formerly Twitter), I was absolutely sure our format would fail. The platform is historically built for short, punchy thoughts, not our existential walls of text. But to my surprise, we quietly gathered over 4,000 followers, and a solid core of regular commenters formed there as well. We are constantly read by a couple of guys living deep in Isaan, one very “special” commenter, a Japanese guy, and even a few Thais. Overall, the atmosphere there is actually very similar to Facebook.
And finally, TikTok. It is just wild. We only have a little over 2,000 followers there so far, but the statistics never cease to amaze me: the average age of our audience there is 60+. And they are incredibly active. They leave a ton of comments—sure, they are your typical, chaotic TikTok-style comments—but they are highly engaged.
So, it doesn’t matter which platform you are reading this on, whether you are looking for hidden meanings in the text, arguing in the comments, or trying to video call us on Instagram at 3 AM. Thank you for being with us. Have a great Sunday.
Thanks for being with us for another week on the grid. See you out there.
